World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade you choose, it may increase the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level, and also boost other stats.

The process of upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specified amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increases when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all the upgraded perks (attack, magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high dependent on the upgrader and the kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is because of how many perks have to be replaced to allow the item to be upgraded.

Item level is a widely used measurement of power and can be found on all item tooltips. It also serves as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to a lower level). The average level of the item can be found on the character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell equipment, players can compare the item level. It's a good gauge of an item's worth and how much damage it is capable of causing. The level of the item can be used to evaluate items when looking at a vendor's inventory.

The level of the item can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the full description of the item, as well as its value. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are a few theories on how the item level calculation is made. One theory says that the item level is calculated by formulas that determine how valuable the stats of an item really are. It considers the fact that various perks have different value, and also that gems in sockets increase the item's overall value. This can result in an item's ilvl which is calculated and is usually very close to Blizzard's real item level.

However, this isn't the only factor that determines the ilvl of an item, as the level of the area the item dropped in can alter the value of its stats, for instance by adding an additional level to its crit rating or haste rating. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have a higher ilvl.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant element in what determines the value of an item for players. The game makes use of them in various ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to one weapon and to motivate players to explore other weapons. The stat modifications of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then increased by a player's skill.

Upgrades to an item can boost its stats. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. A grey or white item for instance, can only be upgraded once and items with rare tiers may be upgraded several times at more expensive costs.

Affixes are a different method to change an item's stats. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and they come in all sizes and shapes. Affixes can be used to give the item extra damage, add a special capability to the item (such as reviving dead or decreasing the duration of cooldowns) or make the item unique by putting an additional name to the item.

At present, all affixes can be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button using circling arrows. It will cost a set amount in gold and items. These can be used as upgrade gauges, just like the other rerolling methods.

In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can select which of the available stats they want to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The possible ranges of stats for an item are based on the item level, but every item is guaranteed to have at least one stat within that range, unless it's a unique item or the result of a God roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be changed is the option to upgrade equipment without having to reroll attaches, or select which stats to enhance. Similar to the base equipment, it will have to be done per item and the interface for item comparison will not show all possible stats simultaneously.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the probability of obtaining items, the properties that are spawned by loot and the strength of these properties. However, it doesn't directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players a chance to acquire better gear in earlier waves and is therefore more valuable in the early game as opposed to later ones, as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall upgrade chances, which increase with each item level. These can also be increased with the use of anti-materials, such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can spawn or be crafted by using the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can then be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to give +40 Luck, or to increase the existing Luck of the item up to 140.

Moreover there are certain items, such as the Hollow infused weapon, can be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items are available at the store, or they can be constructed using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are costly and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chances of success for an upgrade or to stop players from losing their items if it is not successful.

When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to the extent to which the success rates can be improved and the probability of a failed upgrade cannot exceed 100%..

Cases gg  of an item can affect the success of an upgrade. Each item has a base success rate of 25% and every item that has Luck increases that chance by an additional five percent.

Note that item upgrades are rendered above the inventory items which means that enchantment glints and other effects could be masked by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
